What a year 2020 has been. We've learned a ton this year that has continued to shape the evolution of what BuildBook provides and have been lucky enough to work with so many great people along the way.
Although 2020 presented challenges, we've seen firsthand how resilient the construction industry is and what an awesome community it is to be a part of!
IBS 2020 in Vegas was the first — and last — big event of the year...of course we didn't know that at the time. We had an absolute blast as an exhibitor getting the chance to meet customers face-to-face and show so many builders and remodelers the power of BuildBook.
For a small startup like BuildBook, it's a wild ride investing to be a part of such a huge show. We decided to flip the script of the traditional booth dynamic and focus on learning and development. Lucky for us, we had some industry rockstars ready to jump in and be a part of it!
Of course, we chose to build our booth from scratch with help from BuildBook co-founder Ryan Miller in Georgia. Fun fact: the entire booth was built with modular components so we could disassemble, ship, then reassemble. 😎
Then came the fun part: transporting the booth on a 30-hour drive from Greensboro, GA to Las Vegas. Our team had some fun with it 😉
The booth (and our team) arrived to Vegas safe and sound and were on to booth assembly.
Some highlights of IBS included a Builders of Insta IBS Meetup for builder products that we sponsored - and where we were able to meet tons of great people within the industry — and our speaker series that featured Shawn Van Dyke, Adam Grubb, Will Duderstadt, and Spencer Powell. It was an awesome experience and we can't wait to be able to connect again with everyone when IBS picks back up in person. Fingers crossed for 2022!
We wrapped up IBS as a finalist for Most Innovative Construction Tool, and were later named Best New Product in Residential by Constructech!

We created the Build Better Together program to help construction companies combat the economic crisis during the pandemic. Early in Spring and into Summer, there was so much uncertainty in the industry due to restrictions on new projects being paused resulting in schedules up in the air, finances in limbo, and clients and teams asking questions. We wanted to help builders by offering our product at no cost to keep everyone in the loop all at once.
