Permitting

Permitting is the legal process through which construction projects are evaluated, approved, and monitored by government agencies. The process involves obtaining various permissions and licenses from relevant authorities such as city councils, building departments, and zoning boards, among others. These approvals usually cover different aspects of a construction project, including but not limited to land use, structural design, electrical and plumbing systems, and environmental impact.

Permits help ensure that construction projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, and that they are safe for use. They also help protect the integrity of surrounding infrastructures. Depending on the complexity of a project, the permitting process can take several months to complete, and failure to obtain the necessary permits can lead to fines, lawsuits, or even project shutdown.
