Construction glossary term

Dependencies

Dependencies are items within a construction project where one item is dependent on the completion of another item in order for it to begin. Each dependency relationship has a predecessor and a successor. Predecessors are items that must take place first in order for the successor to occur.

This dependent relationship allows items, such as project tasks, to be scheduled in a sequence on a project timeline. If the predecessor task gets delayed, the successor task will be delayed as well.
