Construction glossary term

Cost Code

A cost code is a classification used to map individual project costs into your accounting system to support bookkeeping as well as financial reporting. Each code is part of a cost category and consists of a name and numeric characters that align with the category it falls under.

When creating an estimate, each line item will have a cost code which is then tied to that item's quantity, markup, and cost.
