Sometimes, it feels like a builder’s day never ends.

Guess what – it doesn’t have to be that way.

* You can get home in time for dinner with the kids.
* You can make that Saturday tee time with your friends.
* You don’t have to cancel plans while you’re stuck at the office under a mountain of paperwork.

By maintaining clarity in your communications with your team and your clients, you can take control of your workweek and do more of what you love.

Ryan Miller, the Head of Construction at BuildBook and the founder of Artisan Built, attributes his success and steady work/life balance to keeping things streamlined for both colleagues and clients.

“Each project has a zillion things to stay on top of and we always have multiple builds going on at once,” Ryan said. “That’s why we hold weekly progress meetings – this way, everyone is thinking one or two steps ahead with a clear goal in mind for each step of the process.”

To keep everything in check, Ryan lays out a monthly agenda to map out key decisions that need to be made by his clients.

“Don’t just tell your clients what you’re going to do,” Ryan said. “Make sure they understand why you’re doing it.”

Sounds like a no-brainer, right? Unfortunately, that’s not the way it goes for most builder/client relationships.

In our recent nationwide survey, 80% of homebuilding clients said the communication they had with their contractor throughout the project was less than outstanding.

Make sure you’re a part of the 20%.

Punch out before 6pm by keeping things clear for your clients and project teams.

See you at the tee box.
