We built this ornate two story deck on a home in Pleasant Grove. The upper deck was covered with a waterproofed aggregate epoxy surface to provide weather protection for the hot tub down below, the lower deck was finished with our signature Newtechwood composite decking with hidden fasteners, and the railings were custom fabricated to match existing railings elsewhere on the home. As an additional challenge, the homeowners wanted this deck to extend out six feet over the lawn below but they didn't want any posts in the middle of the lawn. In order to cantilever the deck that far into the space below without a corner post we had it engineered with steel beams integrated into the floor of the lower deck. You can see in the photos how the deck overhangs the yard below without intruding into the lawn with a post. Additionally, the landing on the U-shaped stairs had to be designed to hit at the perfect level, but the landscaping retaining wall did not want to accomodate us. Our mission was to create a seamless design that overcame all the site challenges in such a way that it felt as if it were intended from the beginning. These are the kind of unique problem solving challenges that we excel at. We're looking forward to your project!
